Heating engineer carrying a new boiler box from a van to a house

Before the day

To prepare:

  • Clear the area around the boiler, meter and any cupboards involved
  • Make sure there's parking or access for the engineer's van
  • Clear a path through the house and to the loft if tanks are involved
  • Plan for no heating or hot water for part of the day or longer

On the day

The engineer will protect floors, drain the system, remove the old boiler and fit the new one. Many clean the system and fit a filter. Then they connect the gas, water and flue, fill and test the system, and commission the boiler.
